The Holloways are splitting up after seven year career

Indie rockers The Holloways have announced they are splitting up after a seven year career.

In a statement on their website they say they've had problems over the years and are "deciding to call it a day".

It said reasons for the split included "fires burning all our stuff down. Labels going Bust, friends leaving the band to name but a few".

The Holloways had a hit in 2007 with Generator, which made it to number 14 in the singles chart.

They released two albums, debut So This is Great Britain? in 2006 and No Smoke, No Mirrors in 2009.

The band will play a farewell performance at The Relentless Garage in London on 23 May.
